Pasta with Swiss Chard, Anchovies, Tomato Sauce, and Walnuts

Introduction

Swiss chard (bieta in Italian) is a versatile leafy green that grows wild in our region, but cultivated varieties work just as well in this recipe. Its slightly earthy and mild flavor pairs beautifully with the rich anchovies, tangy tomato sauce, and the nutty crunch of walnuts. This simple yet delicious dish brings together the best of Mediterranean flavors for a wholesome and satisfying meal.


Ingredients

  • Pasta: 300 g (spaghetti or your preferred type)
  • Swiss chard (bieta): 500 g (wild or cultivated)
  • Extra virgin olive oil: 4 tablespoons
  • Anchovy fillets: 3-4
  • Tomato sauce: 200 ml
  • Garlic: 2 cloves
  • Walnuts: 50 g, roughly chopped
  • Salt: to taste
  • Black pepper: to taste (optional)
